Sound system disturbing the family or blowing the Neighbours away? Then the Turtle Beach Ear Force X41 Surround sound headset might just be the ticket.

Apparently I have the stereo 'too loud' when I play games, and using a regular headset is no go as who wants to give up on nice 5.1 surround sound.

The X41 solves this issue amazingly well. Let me list the highlights:

  • Wireless - No cords to trip you up.
  • Light - It's very light and is easy to wear.
  • Works with ANYTHING with a Dolby Digital output. Just plug in the cable and away you go.
  • Has a headphone jack for a second wired headset that will get the full surround sound experience as well. This is almost 2 for the price of 1.
  • Can also take a regular stereo signal. Ewwww Analog.
  • Transmitter is powered by USB, so can run from an Xbox 360, PS3 or PC. No need for a bulky power plug/adapter.
  • Comes with the ability to connect to your Xbox 360 controller so you can chat in online games while wearing the headset. Volume control is separate for the mic/headset and the game audio.
  • Can purchase adapters to connect the microphone for PS3 and PC.

They really put a lot of thought into the headset and it covers all the bases you can think of. Adding in the second headset jack shows they really wanted to pack everything they could in.

If anything they could make it do less. There is a button to swap between digital and analog processing when you have a digital input, but why would you ever do analog decoding of a digital signal?

While this is a pricey headset, if you need to use it a lot, it's well worth it. I am extremely happy with it and now enjoy loud action games while the room is silent around me. :-)
