I have no words for this: Spyware in Battlefield 2142?

Apparently your shiny new copy of Battlefield 2142 will come with a bit of paper that says something about how the advertins technology will record your IP and other information and nothing personal.

This means that Electronic Arts are charging you the same price and their advertising budys are going to monitor your activity. The last bit is a total laugh, Battlefield 2142 is basically an online only multiplayer game.

Next up: Creative remove FM recording from their players. Anyone who bought this player and considered that to be a feature must be really upset, and rightly so.

Sure they can drop it from future players and thats their choice. Though to have top disable the feature from players that people have already brought due to a licensing issue with the RIAA, should be illegal. Can you imagine if you bought a car and then when you had it serviced they removed part of the stereo because they couldn’t reach an agreement with the RIAA.

Hopefully this isn’t the way of the future. :-(
