Review: G15 Gaming keyboard.

Well as I mentioned earlier, I have a Logitech G15 keyboard. The backlight is still the greatest thing ever made for a keyboard. I wish my laptop had a backlit keyboard. Okay lets go through the good and bad.
The Good:
- Macros - Every keyboard should have these. You have 18 custom keys that can record on the fly any sequence of keyboard commands. Then you have 3 groups of these which effectively gives you 54 custom macros. So for all your favourite apps where you have a few often use keyboard shortcuts its great. For example when using firefox, I have one hand on the mouse and one on the left side of the keyboard that can swap tabs, close windows, copy and paste a text url that I have higlighted into the location bar and press enter. This feature alone allows for massive customisation of any app.
- The LCD screen - Didn’t really think this would be that great, though no matter what app I am in I can quickly see the date/time, the weather, if I have unread email. There are a few forums for G15 Mods that you can download custom LCD apps that people have developed. G15mods, G15forums.
- Backlight - nothing more needs to be said.
- Custom buttons for Music playback - these are great and work with winamp or Windows media player just fine. Its good to be able to hit a play/pause button or next track without having to locate the app and then press it.
The Bad:
- The keys are painted on, so some of them are starting to fade, have read that some people have their keys rub out in next to no time.
- It is big, so make sure you have the desk space.
Overall:
This is a must have keyboard for any gamer, and if you are into serious productivity with the macros, then there is a G11 version which only lacks the LCD. Highly recommend this keyboard to anyone that uses their PC a lot.
