Playstation 3 console

Playstation 3 time, there are a few games on it that aren't available on any other platform and I had to play them. Plus it apparently plays Blu-Ray discs but I probably won't be doing that anytime soon.
My view of the PS3 is coloured by my Xbox 360 experience.
Out of the box impressions:
- Big and heavy, this feels like a solid piece of hardware.
- Not a single high def cable inside the box? This very strange decision for a Blu-Ray player.
- Takes a standard computer power plug, no external power brick.
- When you insert a disc into it, it sounds like it is eating the disc. It's not, but it was a bit disconcerting the first time.
- The wireless controller doesn't have any bright lights on it which is quite nice.
- Wireless controller has a non replaceable battery, so if you are running low during a game session, you have to run the USB cable. This is just wrong.
- Wifi built in, seems alright, was enough for me to download a system update and browse the PS3 store.
- Hardly any demos of PS3 store games. This was a big disapointment. Every game on the XBOX live arcade system has a demo (it's not like you can rent them as they are only downloadble). Sony need to fix this.
- The games I have played so far really look great.
Overall:
Nice bit of hardware, I might even get around to playing a Blu-Ray on it one day. :-)
