PC Power Supply

True Power II 550WStop me if you have heard this one before. You are sitting there at your PC, and all of a sudden you smell something electronic burning. After checking its not the CPU or the video card, you find out that its the power supply.

It turns out that my little 350W no name brand power supply just couldn’t handle the load that my 7800GT put on it, so before it blew and took out all my expensive system components, I knew I had to get a new one.

So a quick check of a power supply review lets me know one thing: dodby no name brands are not the way to go.

Well after finding that my local store guy is out of stock of his recommended 500W PSU, I check another store and the guy has a very cheap no name brand 500W PSU that he assures me ‘is very powerful, can handle anything and is a great deal’. Ummmm no thanks.

Well I finally settle on an Antec Truepower 2.0 550W PSU. Only cost 1 arm and half a leg :-)

Hopefully this will stop my PC from blowing up. It’s got a 3 year warranty, sata hard drive power adapters and 2 PCI-Express power adapters if I ever get rich enough to go SLI.
