HDMI 1.3 isn’t needed

Well here is something that I wasn’t aware of: Is HDMI 1.3 really necessary?
Short answer: No it isn’t, it has features that we will never use.
You should really read the article if this is something you are thinking about or being told you need.
This is basically a future standard for formats beyond BluRay and HD-DVD.
What does it bring that we can’t use?
- Higher speed - The current speed is fine
- Deep Colour - HD-DVD and Bluray can’t support this
- New Audio format support - Not needed cause of the way this is decoded in the player.
It has ‘lip synching’ support, but this isn’t supported by anything yet and no one is sure yet how it will work.
It’s great that they have a new future standard in the works now, though its also good to know that buying new gear now won’t leave you in the lurch.
