Game Thoughts: Overlord

Overlord_1.jpgMore XBOX 360 gaming fun. Ever wanted to rule as an evil Overlord? Well thanks to Codemasters, now you can. You play as a recently awakened overlord that has to rebuild his tower and build up his army of minions.

The Good:

  • You control your little minions and they do your bidding. :-)
  • Slowly rebuilding your tower is a lot of fun to watch it develop.
  • Well designed levels that have you doing a lot of exploring.
  • Once you build up your minions there is a lot of fun strategy.

The Bad:

  • No easy save points, you can’t leave halfway through an area.
  • The game has an Evil/Good and Evil/Evil paths by letting you not not kill/kill the peasants, I thought this was weird.
  • Controls can be a real pain in the ass.
  • No cheat codes.

Overall:

Overlord game mechanics were really different, and took a lot of getting used to. Your minions will die a lot, though that is what they are supposed to do, and once you get over that and get into it, the game is a lot of fun to play.
