Game Review: Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

Castlevania: Dawn of SorrowTodays review is for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for the Nintendo DS. A old school style side scroller platform game. I haven’t played any of the other recent Castlevania games.

The Good:

  • There are some really great sounds used throughout the game.
  • Uses both screens of the DS to good effect.
  • Thankfully they didn’t go crazy with insane jumping puzzles.
  • The ’suspend’ feature which saves your current position so you can power off the DS. And then deletes the save upon resuming, is the best answer to the classic ’save anywere/checkpoint save’ argument. This way you can easily stop a game and not have to start later on from a checkpoint way back in the game.

The Bad:

  • Some portions of the soundtrack are a bit annoying.
  • Having to play the game through twice to get 100% completition is lame.

Overall:

Really good game thats lots of fun to play. Well worth your time if you like this style of game. :-)
